Sh2-239 and LDN1551

Sh2-239 is a reflection nebula and a collection of Herbig-Haro objects embedded in the dark cloud LDN1551. The brightest part of Sh2-239 is catalogued as the Herbig-Haro object HH102. It is located near the star T Tauri within the Taurus dark cloud complex some 450 light-years distant. Estimates indicate that the star forming LDN1551 region contains a total amount of material equivalent to about 50 times the mass of the Sun.
